7.5.3Day (Shichigosan) is a traditional observance of children’s growth. Girls of three and seven years age, boys of  five years age are dressed up and taken to a shrine. There they pray that the god will protect the children as they grow. From ancient times, odd numbers have been considered lucky in Japan. That’s why children are feted at ages three, five and seven.
